Dear Friends!

         We are happy to welcome you on web-site of Euro-Asian Initiative for Patient Safety!

The most important goal in any system of public healthcare is to protect and improve human’s health conditions. The nation’s good health is the basis for development, prosperity and security of every country. Euro-Asian Initiative for Patient Safety is based on the following:

  • Every patient has the right for qualitative, secured and affordable medical help;
  • International experience shows that unwanted medical occurrences can be in all countries;
  • Problems of patient rights and safety can be solved only in cooperation and dialog between government, medical society and patients under active patient’s involvement and cooperation on the international level.

Security questions are especially relevant within the countries of former social camp. The systems of public health, in these countries were really alike up until 1990. After the USSR had collapsed, the complicated path of social and economic transformations, including the medical safety, has started to evolve. This experience is valuable not only for each particular country, but for all countries in general.

In order to increase safety of patients and improve the quality of medical help, there should be created and implemented the system of accounting about the unfavorable medical occurrences, efficient monitoring, control over the quality of drugs and services, use of appropriate equipment, technologies, and management models of public healthcare. International experience shows, that the obligatory condition of security ensuring in medicine is the active participation of patients. Each country individually doesn’t have enough experience, finances, practical scientific foundation, that is needed to solve different questions that arouse, while ensuring patients safety. We can solve all these problems, only by uniting our efforts.

The main peculiarity of this Initiative is that it comes from governments, medical, expert and patient’s organizations from 18 countries. We are witnessing creation of unique event, when many politicians, government representatives, specialists and civic society are uniting around the patient's safety issue. Right now it is important to develop and approve the single Strategy of Cooperation, connected to the problem of patient’s safety, and to implement the patient-centered system of public healthcare.

We are really grateful to the representatives of all countries, and to Heads of the Ministries of Healthcare of partner-countries that showed big interest to our work, and are open to cooperation with us.

With respect and hope on our productive cooperation,

Kseniya Kosheleva

Coordinator of the Euro-Asian Initiative for Patient Safety
